Romania’s national airline and one of the most representative operators on the European continent has joined the Romanian Airline Companies Association “Carpathia”. TAROM 's accession marks a defining moment in the evolution of RACA and strengthens the institutional representation of Romanian aviation.

Founded in 1954, continuing the tradition of Romanian commercial aviation that began in 1920, TAROM remains a cornerstone of Romania’s air connectivity and a strategic regional player.

The company is the only Romanian airline that is a member of SkyTeam, one of the world’s three major global airline alliances. This membership provides passengers with access to an extensive worldwide network, harmonised services, frequent flyer benefits and unified quality standards, reflecting TAROM’s compliance with international requirements in terms of safety, operational performance and commercial integration.

At present, TAROM operates a mixed fleet suitable for both domestic and European routes:

  • 4 × Boeing 737-800
  • 4 × Boeing 737-700
  • 4 × ATR 72-600
  • 2 × ATR 72-500

Under Air Operator Certificate RO-001, the airline serves major destinations such as Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Frankfurt, Madrid, Rome, Athens, Prague and Tel Aviv, alongside domestic routes including Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Timișoara, Oradea, Baia Mare, Satu Mare and Suceava.

TAROM is currently undergoing a restructuring process that includes operational and commercial modernisation, network optimisation, digitalisation and fleet configuration, with the objective of strengthening its competitiveness over the medium and long term.

TAROM’s accession significantly enhances RACA’s legitimacy and representative capacity. The presence of the national carrier reinforces the Association’s role in dialogue with relevant authorities and key industry stakeholders, facilitating a unified approach to strategic issues such as connectivity, competition, taxation, human resources and sustainability.

With eight Romanian airline members, RACA enters a new stage of maturity, consolidating its ability to fully reflect the interests of Romanian commercial aviation.

We are honoured to welcome our colleagues from TAROM.

Together, we strengthen Romania’s voice in European aviation and contribute to the development of a modern, sustainable and competitive industry.
