After more than twelve and a half hours of flying from Seattle to Bucharest, with a stop in Keflavík, Iceland, the aircraft named “Mircea Lucescu” has arrived in Romania. It is the first of two Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft that TAROM is set to receive this year, marking an important step in the modernisation of the airline’s fleet.
Powered by CFM LEAP-1B engines, the Boeing 737 MAX 8 offers lower fuel consumption, reduced emissions and a significantly smaller noise footprint. With a range of up to 6,400 km, depending on configuration and operating conditions, it provides greater flexibility for network development and improved operational efficiency.
For the Romanian Airline Companies Association “Carpathia”, every investment in Romanian operators’ fleets is a reason for confidence in the future of our aviation sector. We are pleased to see TAROM, a RACA member airline, taking this step forward.
Stronger Romanian airlines mean better connectivity, skilled jobs and the ability to compete over the long term. These investments must be supported by predictable policies and a level playing field with operators from other countries. Tackling unfair competition remains a priority for RACA.
