Bucharest National Airports Company (CNAB) will soon begin essential works, investing in the future of airport infrastructure, following the signing of a contract for the design, technical assistance, and execution for the modernization of the International Departures, Finger, and Arrivals terminals at Henri Coandă International Airport in Bucharest, which handled approximately 15 million passengers in 2023.
The works, valued at over 22 million euros and fully financed from CNAB's own funds, represent a necessary step in transforming the country's largest airport. The project focuses on four major objectives aimed at bringing the infrastructure up to international standards and enhancing passenger comfort.
The first objective is the modernization of the centralized ventilation/air conditioning system. This involves replacing the current equipment, upgrading the management server, and implementing a modern command and automatic control system. These improvements will ensure a more comfortable and safer environment for all airport users.
Simultaneously, the project also includes the interior refurbishment of the terminals. Finishes, flooring, ceilings, furniture, and signage will be updated to reflect a higher quality standard and to provide passengers with a pleasant and functional visual experience.
Another important objective is the installation of a new fire detection and alarm system, which will significantly enhance the safety and protection of passengers and airport staff. Additionally, the electrical installations will be upgraded, and terminal lighting will be provided by efficient and economical LED fixtures. Moreover, more power outlets will be added for passengers' devices, addressing the modern connectivity needs.
All the works will be completed by early 2027, carried out in phases to minimize passenger discomfort and ensure the continuity of airport operations. This strategic approach underscores CNAB's commitment to providing high-quality services, even during the modernization process.
Through these sustained efforts, Bucharest National Airports Company strengthens its role as a leader in the Romanian aviation sector. The current investments not only modernize the infrastructure but also bolster Romania's position on the international aviation stage. We can look forward to a promising future, where Romanian airport infrastructure will offer passengers a pleasant travel experience, meeting European standards.
