Legend Airlines (LZ / LAL), a Romanian airline and member of the Romanian Airline Companies Association "Carpathia" (RACA), continues to strengthen its position on the international air transport market. The Romanian operator has experienced intensive activity in recent years, marking significant growth both operationally and in terms of passenger numbers.

Last year (2024), Legend Airlines operated approximately 700 flights, totaling over 3,200 block hours and block hours transporting over 110,000 passengers to 45 international airports. Significant clients included ACC Aviation (UK), ACS (UK), NEOS (Italy), SpiceJet (india), Garuda (Indonesia), Delta World Charter (UAE), Le Bas (USA) and Manasik (Saudi Arabia).

At the beginning of 2025, the company has already performed nearly 150 flights for clients such as AirAlgerie, Nomad Aviation (Switzerland), and Manasik (Saudi Arabia), covering 17 international airports by 1st of March.

The current fleet consists of three Airbus A340-313 aircraft (YR-LRC, YR-LRD, YR-LRE), each with a seating capacity of 324 in economy class, although the Romanian operator also possesses business and first-class configurations. The aircraft specialize in charter and ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Insurance) operations, offering increased flexibility and rapid adaptation to customer requirements. The Airbus A340-313 aircraft have a flight range of up to approximately 13,700 km (~ 15 flight hours), making them suitable for long-haul and intercontinental flights.

Recently, Legend Airlines has operated flights across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, significantly present in destinations including Algeria, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Italy, France, Spain, and India, among others.

Legend Airlines' medium and long-term strategy includes expanding operations within the Romanian market. The company plans to extend its activities in Romania by capitalizing on increasing demand for travel, especially business travel. Legend Airlines’ aircraft fleet enables long-haul direct flights from Bucharest Otopeni Airport to major international destinations such as New York, Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro, Beijing, Tokyo, Jakarta, or Johannesburg, representing significant potential for developing intercontinental routes from Bucharest-Otopeni Airport.

"We are strengthening our presence, globally indeed, through new contracts. However, I can say we are also closely looking towards the Romanian market. This year we are seriously studying the possibility of introducing regular long-haul flights from Bucharest. We are actively evaluating Romania's potential for direct routes to major international destinations in North America, South America, East Asia, or South Africa. At the same time, we are actively searching the market for additional aircraft, especially Airbus A340 or A330 models, to expand our fleet, providing greater flexibility and enabling us to meet increasing demand, both locally and internationally," stated Ramin Youresh, CEO of Legend Airlines.

RACA supports Legend Airlines’ development and will assist the company in achieving its proposed objectives, thereby contributing to strengthening and growing the Romanian aviation sector.
